Florida Atlantic University Celebrates 1,950 Graduates of Summer 2024

Boca Raton, FL – Florida Atlantic University (FAU) marked a significant milestone as it conferred 1,950 degrees during four in-person commencement ceremonies held at the Carole and Barry Kaye Performing Arts Auditorium, FAU Student Union, on the Boca Raton campus. These summer graduates now join the ranks of more than 208,000 alumni who have graduated from FAU since its establishment in 1964.

“We are thrilled to celebrate the accomplishments of our summer graduates,” said FAU President Stacy Volnick. “Their hard work and commitment to excellence is a source of pride for us all. As they join the ranks of Florida Atlantic alumni, we look forward to the innovation and leadership they will bring to their professions and communities.”

The 2024 summer commencement highlighted the diverse and inclusive nature of FAU’s student body. Notable statistics from this year’s graduates include:

  • 38 degree recipients are over the age of 50, with six over the age of 60.
  • The oldest graduate is 86 years old, and the youngest is just 18.
  • Of the 1,950 graduates, 514 are first-generation students.
  • 59 graduates achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA.
  • Graduates represented 32 different countries.

The ceremonies were a celebration of perseverance, diversity, and academic excellence. The graduates’ achievements reflect FAU’s commitment to providing high-quality education and fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all students.

Among the graduates, inspiring stories of resilience and determination were abundant. The presence of older graduates, including an 86-year-old, underscored the idea that education is a lifelong journey.
