A Brazilian Singer is a Success, Daniela Soledade

Daniela Soledade

Brazilian Dream

Boca Raton, FL – Hello, hello, Florida! Daniela Soledade is an artist from Rio de Janeiro who has earned the respect of critics and audiences in the United States and Europe. With two albums released, “A Moment of You” (2019) and “Pretty World” (2021), and the support of bossa nova masters such as Roberto Menescal and Antonio Adolfo, she has brought the delicacy of Brazilian singing to some of the most important concert venues in the world — Blue Note in New York, Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London, Sunset Sunside Paris, Blue Note in Milan, among others. Praised in publications such as “Downbeat” and “Jazz Times”, Daniela is in a recent cover story of “JAZZIZ” magazine entitled “Rio Rhythm: the heartbeat of Brazilian Music”, alongside names such as Ivan Lins, Bebel Gilberto and Ed Motta. Having lived in Florida since her late teens, Daniela Soledade takes her country’s music around the world with special pride and affection. “It’s a mission of the heart to spread our Brazilian music around the world. I have a lot of love for my musical roots and I’m immensely proud to be Brazilian. I feel privileged to be able to represent our music, which is truly unique,” she says reverently.

She has no lack of legitimacy and even ancestry for this mission. Daniela is the granddaughter of Paulo Soledade (1919-1999), a friend and partner of Tom Jobim, author of carnival classics such as the march-rancho “Estão Voltando as Flores” and the march “Zum-Zum”. Her father, Paulinho Soledade, is a respected musician, composer, producer and arranger, with work with Tim Maia, Erasmo Carlos and a long resume on TV Globo’s music programs.

Accustomed to performing in theaters and intimate venues in the US, with a repertoire focused on bossa nova — in a duo with guitarist Nate Najar or in smaller groups —, Daniela has prepared a new format of show with a band, more relaxed and with vibrant dynamics. From the name, “Brazilian Dream” directly targets a specific desire that Brazilians living abroad feel: The desire to dance, sing along and relive the longing for Brazilian music.

The show’s repertoire includes MPB, bossa and samba, including classics that are part of the emotional memory of several generations, such as “Flor de Lis” (Djavan), “Águas de Março” (Jobim), “Palpite” (Vanessa Rangel), and “País Tropical” (Jorge Ben) — songs that encourage the audience to sing along, at the top of their lungs.

Daniela Soledade will debut “Brazilian Dream” on Friday, September 6th, at a venue called Boca Black Box, in Boca Raton, FL.

It will be an incredible opportunity for Americans and Brazilians living in the area to meet up and relive their longing for Brazilian MPB and, of course, it will also offer attractions for anyone who wants to enjoy Brazilian know-how and have fun at shows.

Friday, September 6th | 8 pm | Tickets: $48
